

Solo Rules
Traditional Solos
- Individuals will compete within their age range.
- Males will not compete against females & vice versa.
- Callbacks may be required.
- Solo music is selected by the competition director.
Acappella Solos

Individuals will compete within their age range.

No costume requirements.

Any type of steps allowed
-
Individuals will dance a short solo (15 to 20 seconds)
without music one at a time.
- Judges face away from dancers.
Rising Star
Solo Age Divisions
15 & Under —– 16 & Up
Rising Star solo division is for dancers with special needs or
disabilities. GCLA is proud to offer this category again at the 2007
competition. One category, includes males and females!
Duo/Duet Rules
Short Duo/Duet
(Short Duo/Duet is one category)
- One Couple – male/male, female/female, or male/female.
- No costume requirements.
- Dancers must dance as couple with maximum variety of
interaction (applies to male/male as well as female/female duos).
- This is not a two-person line dance.
- Dancers in step with each other at all times. A progressive
step change will be allowed.
- Couples line up like individual freestyle to do a short
32-36 seconds (not beats) routine as couples.
- Format includes a warm up, short Rise & Shine, & go-for-it
as couples.
- Music provided by the event.
Duo/Duet & Show Duo/Duet
(Duo/Duet & Show Duo/Duet is one category divided by ages. Male/Female
will
compete against Male/Male or Female/Female.)
- This is a couple oriented dance.
- Dancers are encouraged to dance as a couple using a variety
of turns.
- Dancers are encouraged to use the entire stage area.
Example not dancing in one place the entire dance.
- Time limit - three (3) minutes.

Proceeds from this event will benefit future GCLA competitions,
workshops, pageants and scholarships. If you are not a member of GCLA,
consider joining our organization. GCLA's goal is to promote clogging in
as many positive ways as possible.
